Keeping my well going.

With all the drought going on in Texas and the rest of the nation, it was a matter of time before my creek started to run dry. My well was hand-dug in the early 1920s and is only 12 to 14 feet deep. In order to get to the deeper water I used compressed air and a 3/4 PVC pipe and blew out sediment and as the PVC pipe was pushed down another 15 feet.

After doing this, water was restored and what a relief! Able to shower and wash dishes without using bottled water at $.75 a gallon.

I bought an Aeromotor windmill from a local rancher and it is in very good working condition. The fan isn't damaged and the tower is in usabe condition. I was able to purchase the whole rig for $200 and will look for some help getting it raised next week. Most windmills I looked at were in the $1200+ plus price range!

Momre later.

First Posting on my blog

I moved onto my ranch in Jan 20011 after living in Austin,TX since 1968.

I bought a used FEMA trailer that was in fantastic shape and moved it down to the ranch, which is named Song Dog Ranch for the coyotes that you can hear some evenings when they are about doing what coyotes do at night.

I renovated my well with a new pump and wiring and pipe. I learned many things while doing this project and met some mighty nice neighbors who pitched in and helped without having to ask twice. Great folks.

I will post more later, this is my first posting and it is 6:22 AM and I am going to the Super Regional Baseball game this evening and need to get some chores done first.

Bye for Now.
